English as an Additional Language

EALD

ENGLISH AS AN ADDITIONAL LANGUAGE LANDSDALE PRIMARY SCHOOL

Landsdale Primary School has approximately 45% of students coming from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.

The three main languages spoken at home by our students, other than English, are Gujarati, Vietnamese and Macedonian. We believe that our cultural diversity is one of the strengths of our school, and we recognise and celebrate our multicultural community through Harmony Week and NAIDOC Week activities, as well as developing student knowledge and understanding embedded in the WA Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) curriculum.

Landsdale Primary School employs a teacher for 2 days per week to support our English as an Additional Language/Dialect students in the early years as they develop their English language skills.

Together We Grow

We respectfully acknowledge the past and present traditional custodians of this land on which we are meeting, the Wadjuk Noongar people. It is a privilege to be standing on Wadjuk country. We also acknowledge the contributions of Aboriginal Australians and non-Aboriginal Australians to the education of all children and people in this country we all live in and share together – Australia.
