At Landsdale Primary School students attend science lessons in our purpose-built science classroom for 1 hour per week with one of our science specialist teachers. During this time, the students work in teams, improving their inquiry process skills (predicting, planning, conducting and evaluating their results) by completing hands-on investigations in biological, physical, chemical and Earth and space sciences.
Selected Year 5 and 6 students are invited to participate in a weekly STEM extension and engagement program. This program helps students enhance their teamwork and problem-solving skills while applying their knowledge to real-world situations. Participants also have the chance to compete in various inter-school competitions, including the Synergy Solar Car competition, the Australian Video Game competition, and the Sci-Tech Challenge Day. Additionally, Ashdale Secondary College offers a STEM program each term for selected Year 4 and Year 5 students from the Ashdale Cluster primary schools, allowing them to utilise the college's facilities, resources, and staff that form part of the highly regarded STEM Hub at Ashdale Secondary College.
