From Kindy to Year 6, our year level teams work closely together to plan and deliver structured literacy programs that ensure continuity across each year level and the entire school. We have implemented whole-school writing initiatives such as Talk 4 Writing for Kindy to Year 3, Seven Steps for Writing Success for Years 4 to 6, and Talk for Reading across all year levels.
Our approach includes daily reviews and a strong focus on practising oral reading fluency and vocabulary development. Spelling and phonics instruction are supported by the Promoting Literacy Development (PLD) program, with additional intervention through Minilit Sage for students needing extra support.
Our staff receive ongoing professional development to maintain consistency and effectiveness. We are committed to data-driven teaching, using tools like PLD placement testing and Progressive Achievement Tests (PAT) to tailor instruction and address learning gaps.
Beyond the classroom, our literacy initiatives include participation in national events such as National Simultaneous Storytime, Book Week, and the Premier’s Reading Challenge, fostering a love of reading throughout our school community.
We focus on innovation and creativity to produce students who are engaged and strive to be successful. We work together to develop students who are respectful, resilient, honest and embrace the strength in diversity.
